Causes And Treatment Of Acne

What is Acne?

Acne occurs when the human skin’s pores become clogged by grease, dead skin or bodily oils. It is most commonly associated with and most prevalent in teens and young adults. However, it can continue and become more progressive well into adult life if it is not treated properly. In severe cases, it can even leave a person permanently scarred and pockmarked. Therefore it is not to be taken lightly or brushed off simply as an inherent part of growing up.

Are there any external factors which cause Acne?

It is believed that a person’s DNA is large to blame as the primary cause of acne. In fact, it is the primary factor in around 80% of cases. However, there are things in a person’s lifestyle which can contribute to inflammation and cause the body to produce more oils and subsequently exacerbate the condition.

Diet

Besides changes in hormone levels, your diet can also contribute to the voracity of the diseafoodse. It is widely believed that both bread based foods and chocolate can cause acne to develop and worsen. Many victims are told to cut back on these to aid their recovery. Another key factor appears to be stress.

Stress

However, medical professionals are still unsure of exactly how it contributes to the spreading of acne. One theory is that stress causes the body to produce more oils. As a result, the skin and pores in areas prone to acne also become more liable to clogging.

Up to date, there is still very little known about it. However, some of the common myths surrounding the causes of acne have been largely dispelled.

Dirt

Dust plabikerys an important factor in acne cases. However, this is not entirely accurate. Acne is not caused by dirt, but good hygiene helps as it will contribute to getting rid of the oils which clog up the pores. It is important not to clean the skin too harshly though as this can cause further inflammation.

 Fatty Foods

The eating of greasy or fatty foods also does not contribute to the worsening of acne, but working in greasy conditions such as a fast-food restaurant. Oils used for cooking will come into contact with the skin.

Treatment

The easiest way to treat acne is to ensure that the skin does not become clogged up for extended periods of time. A few gentle washes every day on the most affected areas should keep the majority of acne cases at bay. However, should your symptoms worsen, then you should seek the advice of a medical professional?
