What is Acne?
Acne occurs when the human skin’s pores become clogged by grease, dead skin or bodily oils. It is most commonly associated with and most prevalent in teens and young adults. However, it can continue and become more progressive well into adult life if it is not treated properly. In severe cases, it can even leave a person permanently scarred and pockmarked. Therefore it is not to be taken lightly or brushed off simply as an inherent part of growing up.
Are there any external factors which cause Acne?
It is believed that a person’s DNA is large to blame as the primary cause of acne. In fact, it is the primary factor in around 80% of cases. However, there are things in a person’s lifestyle which can contribute to inflammation and cause the body to produce more oils and subsequently exacerbate the condition.
Diet
Besides changes in hormone levels, your diet can also contribute to the voracity of the disease. It is widely believed that both bread based foods and chocolate can cause acne to develop and worsen. Many victims are told to cut back on these to aid their recovery. Another key factor appears to be stress.
